With the Power Man Netflix show coming soon and Iron Fist still slated to be produced, seems like a good time to look at this little collection that I picked up randomly at my local comic book store – Power Man and Iron Fist: Heroes for Hire (Epic Collection).
The collection collects various issues of the Power Man and Power Man and Iron Fist into this volume.
With writing by comics legends Chris Claremont and John Byrne (as well as others), this was a guaranteed hit for anyone looking to collect these old school issues – at least that’s what I thought.
Thankfully, that thought was entirely correct. I never read these issues before and so looking at the funky ’70s stylings was a joy. The printing is surprisingly clear, which is good, because I remember sweating over reading the crazy bad print of single issues from that era, so that was a relief.
Except for the collaboration of Power Man and Iron Fist in the Heroes for Hire venture, there is no real overall plot to this collection, but many of the stories were just good fun to sit back, relax, and read.
The art teams involved with the various issues also did a great job, with their art very decently reproduced in this collection.
All in all, a worthy collection for any comic reader to have on their shelf, especially if you like old-school blaxpoitation and kung-fu movies.
